Who is behind a fake account harassing me?
Anonymous harassment is designed to make you feel powerless. Most anonymous accounts are not as anonymous as their owners think. Here is how they are identified, lawfully.

- Preserve everything before you block or report: screenshots with dates, usernames and profile URLs.
- Patterns in language, timing and knowledge often point to a short list of people.
- Platforms usually disclose account data only to police or by subpoena, so pair investigation with legal action.
First, preserve the evidence
- Screenshot every message, post and profile page with the date and time visible
- Save the profile URL and username, which can change
- Note which accounts follow or interact with the fake account
- Write down anything the account knows that few people would know
The clues investigators look for
Most harassers are people the victim knows. Investigators compare writing style, spelling habits, posting times, and private details mentioned in messages. Open-source research on linked emails, reused usernames and images can connect a fake profile to a real one.
Getting the platform’s records
Social media companies generally release subscriber information only to law enforcement or through a court subpoena. That is why investigation works best alongside a police report or a civil case: we narrow the suspects, and your attorney or the police compel the records.
How we help
Our harassment investigations combine open-source research, timeline analysis and, where appropriate, surveillance, and produce a report ready for police and court. If you are being harassed by someone you met online, see our romance scam investigations as well.

How we can help
Licensed Tennessee private detectives, lawful methods, and reports written for the people who will read them.
Can a private investigator find out who runs an anonymous account?
Often they can narrow it down or identify the person through open-source research and analysis. Platform records generally require police or a subpoena.
Should I block the account?
Preserve the evidence first. Blocking can make it harder to document later.
